Tips on Saving Money For Mums
With the global economic downturn, did you realize that things are getting more and more expensive? The list of bills to be paid that gets longer and with growing kids at home meant that we need extra income to support all. Being a mum, you can also contribute to the household income. Whether you are currently working or a full-time housewife, you have the option to increase your monthly income by starting your own business or doing part-time job. But the question that you need to ask yourself is ‘Do you have the time to do it?’ and… ‘Do you have the money to start?’
Sometimes it gets to square one: starting a business needs more money and since you need to spend more time on your business, you may need to pay someone to look after your kids. So, what else can you do? Well, the answer is simple: save money. Being a woman and a mum does not mean that you are powerless to control the situation. If you cannot find a way to earn extra money then, save money!
Here are some of the tips on saving money that you can use to reduce the household expenditure.
First of all, you need to prioritize your spending. You may write this in a log book so that you can identify things that you must spend your money on and those that can wait a little longer. (You may realize that some of them can be put on hold forever!). For example, would rather spend your money for the latest LCD television since you see your neighbor is getting one for the coming holiday while your washing machine needs fixing? And your one year old television is in fact is currently working in perfect condition?
Next, you may consider doing some spring cleaning. While doing so, you can identify things that are not in use in quite some time and collecting dust in your store room. Although it is hard to let them go, selling them can generate some money – and you may have extra room! You do not necessary have to do car-boot or yard sale (and save your face!) since there are other options. You can use eBay for example, and sell these items around the world.
You can start to record your expenditure and your earnings. This may be quite hard to start, but with courage and determination, it may become handy. Over the time, you can decide what is really needed and what to cut off.
Last but not least, reduce the frequency of eating out. Cook for your family and spend more time with them. You will soon discover that we are not only able to save money, but also improve our family ties. Some of your kids may also develop some interest in cooking – especially the daughters!
Try this and see the benefit that you can get for you and your family. Good luck!
