If you are going on a vacation, then you can take a few steps that will save you money. This way you will not return from your vacation with an empty bank account and a large credit card debt.

Here are some tips to help you save money while you are traveling:

o Remember any drinks or snacks you take from a hotel minibar, you will be paying a bomb for it. So, it is best to carry your own snacks and drinks. Most hotels have a small refrigerator in the room that can be used to store all the food you bring with you. In case the room does not have a refrigerator, just buy a cooler and store your perishables in it.
o Instead of opting for the pay-per-view, carry your own DVDs and laptop. This way you can watch the movies you have always been meaning to watch instead of spending money on this facility offered by the hotel. Or else, you can just watch the usual television show. After all, the last thing you want to do during your holiday is to watch movies and television. It is the time for you to sight see and get to know a new city and maybe a new culture.
o As far as possible try not to use your credit card. Usually if you are holiday at an international destination, you will be slapped with a variety of fees for the transaction which can amount to a tidy little sum. So, pay cash each time you intend to buy something.
o Before making any calls from your hotel room, make sure you find out what the charges are. These will be added to your overall bill when you are checking out. You are on a holiday. So, learn to relax and try not to use the phone to check on other members of the family, extended families or even your office. If you must call, use your cell phone, which will work out much cheaper than using a hotel phone.
